Set Design

We decided to pull into discussion of set design, but in particular the lighting and colour arrangements we would choose for the shoot, baring in mind what would look attractive in the parameter of the studio. In order to depict a theatrical essence to the band, we decided we would display the dramatically effective key light which would come in from a high angle, such as the renowned spotlight, against a rather harsh mundane natural light. In order to illuminate the background we will depict behind the band, a back light would prove to be essential. The colour regime we have decided upon is metal grey against dark blue, with the purpose of captivating the thematic elements of our diesis, the Wasteland, which would be further emphasised via the broken Mini Cooper we are planning on trailing into the studio.

Our feedback from Dan, the set designer and lighting technician, consisted of the advice; going with the choice of natural lighting to formulate the delusion it is daylight in the studio. Given the essence of what the band represents, it was unnecessary to be pretentious in our choice of lighting but vital to keep it as naturalistic as possible.
